interpersonal
once the preserve of psychologists, has crept into the language of the curriculum vitae, in which no applicant's credentials are adequate without an endorsement of his or her interpersonal skills, i.e. the ability to deal effectively with other people. It is also widely used by sociologists to refer to the ways in which people treat each other in everyday life:

• The social workers in their study appeared to be more aware than the psychiatrists of the relevance of interpersonal and family problems —K. Hawton et al., 1990.
